ISO RATING

During 2021, Aldine Fire & Rescue assisted the Insurance Services Office (ISO) as they conducted a review of the fire protection and fire prevention capabilities the District provides to our property owners.  This review focused on three major areas including emergency communications, fire department capabilities, and water system distribution capabilities.  Through these reviews, a Public Protection Classification (PPC) rating is formulated.  PPC’s are rated on a scale from 1 through 10, with a 1 being the best and 10 being the worst.  HCESD No.  24 had been operating with a PPC of 3/3Y.
After this lengthy and vigorous review, the District was notified by ISO that a recommendation would be made to the Texas Department of Insurance and the State Fire Marshal’s Office for a reclassification of the District’s PPC.  The State Fire Marshal’s Office has accepted the recommendation of ISO and on 02/18/2022, will officially recognize property within Harris County ESD No. 24 as having an improved PPC of 2/2Y (see attached correspondence below from the State Fire Marshal’s Office).
The Texas Department of Insurance web site states, “If a community’s PPC improves, in general, the insurance premiums will decrease.” However, for this to occur, the property owner must bring this to the attention of their insurer.  Therefore, please share the letter from the State Fire Marshal’s Office with your insurance company and or insurance broker to ensure they are aware of the rating improvement.
